Our Practice


Welcome to Ventura County Occupational Medical Center!
 

Ventura County Occupational Medical Center (VCOMC) is a privately owned clinic. Established in 1990, VCOMC was formed to provide Occupational Medicine with focus on the farm community and local working population of Ventura County. We specialize in the management and treatment of work related injuries and illnesses. We offer a broad range of health services, providing a one-stop experience for employers and patients.

Richard Figueroa, MD

Medical Director | Board Certified in Occupational Medicine and Family Practice


Dr. Richard Figueroa was born and raised in Ventura County. He is the medical director of Ventura County Occupational Medical Center (VCOMC) with thirty years of medical experience. He received his medical degree from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He completed his residency in Family Medicine at UCLA affiliate Ventura County Medical Center after working five years as an ER physician. He went on to complete a second residency in Preventative Medicine at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He maintains his board certification in Preventative Medicine and is certified in Family Medicine with additional training in emergency and orthopedic medicine.

Mack Toyama, DC, PA

Chiropractor | Physician Assistant


Dr. Toyama was born and raised in Oxnard California.  He received his bachelor’s degree in pharmacology from UC Santa Barbara and his Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and graduated Summa Cum Laude.  He received additional clinical training as a Physician Assistant at UC Davis School of Medicine in the Department of Community and Family Medicine.   Dr. Toyama maintains board certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.  Dr. Toyama has twenty five years of clinical experience in Occupational Medicine and was formerly a State of California appointed Qualified Medical Evaluator.   His training as a Doctor of Chiropractic focuses on conservative management of musculoskeletal diseases and injuries along with his formal medical training compliments his holistic approach to treating a variety of industrial injuries and occupational illnesses.

Ellen Ngo, PA-C

Physician Assistant


Ellen graduated from California State University, Northridge with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. After her undergraduate studies, she went on to volunteer at an orthopedic clinic and hospital emergency room. She completed a phlebotomy certification program and worked in a hospital laboratory. Ellen went on to earn a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Touro University in Henderson, Nevada. She joined Ventura County Occupational Medical Center in 2017.

Bradford Alex, DC

Chiropractor | Qualified Medical Evaluator


Dr. Bradford Alex received his chiropractic training at Southern California University of Health Sciences. He has worked with insurance companies within utilization review, determining medical necessity and developing musculoskeletal injury care protocols. His commitment is to functional restoration of the patient that is safe, effective, evidence based and efficient for the best possible outcomes.

Jennifer Ferro, LAC

Acupuncturist


Jennifer Ferro is a licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist in the state of California. She is also nationally certified with a Diplomate in Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She received her Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine from Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, California and holds a B.A. from Indiana University, Bloomington.
